A Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study of the Impact of Childhood Water Fluoride Exposure on Tooth Decay Prevention and Neurodevelopmental Disorder Risk

Learning Objectives:

  1. To understand exposure patterns of childhood water fluoridation in the state of Florida.

  2. To understand the relationship between childhood water fluoride exposure and reductions in tooth decay.

  3. To understand the relationship between childhood water fluoride exposure and the risk of neurodevelopmental disorders.

David A. Geier graduated with honors from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) with a BA in biology and a minor in history. He has undertook graduate studies in the fields of immunology, epidemiology, biochemistry, infectious diseases, and vaccines from the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences, Inc (FAES) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD and the George Washington University (GWU), Washington, DC. Mr. Geier has authored nearly 200 studies in peer-reviewed scientific/medical journals, medical textbook chapters, and other publications. Mr. Geier was invited to address the the Institute of Medicine of the US National Academy of Sciences on several occasions. Mr. Geier was also an accredited participant in the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee meetings of the United Nations Environmental Programme on helping to prepare a global legally binding instrument on mercury, the “Minimata Convention on Mercury”. Mr. Geier is currently the director of the nonprofit 501(c)3 Institute of Chronic Illnesses, Inc.

Dr. Kory is a pulmonary and critical care medicine specialist and a former Associate Professor and Chief of the Critical Care Service at the University of Wisconsin. Prior to COVID, he was an internationally renowned pioneer in the field of critical care ultrasonography, having served as senior editor of an award-winning textbook in its 2nd edition, translated into 7 languages. During COVID, he co-founded and served as the President and Chief Medical Officer of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing the most effective treatment protocols for COVID-19 (flccc.net). He is considered one of the world’s clinical experts on the role of ivermectin and other early treatments and is considered a master educator having won major teaching awards at multiple institutions.

Dr. Owens has practiced at Nunnally Freeman and Owens since 2008. Dr. Owens obtained her undergraduate degree from McMurry University in Abilene, TX and her Doctorate in Dental Surgery at UT Health Science Center San Antonio. During her time in practice, Dr. Owens has completed numerous post-graduate educational seminars including an advanced certification in IV sedation. Dr. Owens’ practice philosophy centers around the whole patient. She is a member of the Texas Dental Association and an accredited member of the IAOMT.

Dr. Owens is married to her college sweetheart Bramer, and they have two beautiful daughters, Grace and Emma. Outside of work; Dr. Owens enjoys outdoor activities, playing with her Goldendoodle, and spending time with her family.
