Furthermore, the IAOMT is particularly alarmed that infants can be overdosed when fed with fluoridated tap-water-formula.\n\nWhile some evidence suggests that topical applications of fluoride (such as brushing with a fluoride-containing toothpaste) might lower the incidence of tooth decay, evidence also suggests that swallowed toothpaste can contribute to childhood overdose.  Additionally, the IAOMT has recognized that there is strong evidence to support potential harm from systemic exposure to fluoride.
