The ADA Ignores the Science of Fluoride Harm

2024-12-30T12:39:51-05:00

The American Dental Association (ADA) has long been a leading voice in promoting fluoride as a cornerstone of public dental health policy. However, in light of recent scientific developments, the organization's unyielding stance on fluoride is raising serious concerns. This is especially true regarding the ADA's disregard for decades of scientific studies presented during the federal lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) concerning fluoride added to community drinking water.

Court Ruling: Fluoride Levels Pose Risk to Children’s IQ

2024-12-30T12:19:15-05:00

A recent federal court ruling has confirmed the current fluoride levels in U.S. drinking water, endorsed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), poses an unreasonable risk of reduced IQ in children. The ruling underscores the need for immediate regulatory action to ban water fluoridation, as it challenges decades of government promotion of fluoridated water as safe and beneficial.

History of Water Fluoridation Health Claims In 1952, the United States public health service division of dental public health produced a video extolling the virtues of water fluoridation. It stated: "Dentists in many cities are helping to bring the benefits of fluoridation to children. Now our children can have better health through fluoridated water." But after 78 years of being told that fluoride in our water supply is a health benefit for us, science has proven that is not true. Unfortunately, it’s the opposite - fluoride in our water supply actually [...]

Avoid Fluoride Now: Four Easy Steps to Become Fluoride-Free

2022-11-16T19:06:15-05:00

Some doctors recommend that patients avoid fluoride as a means of improving health. Sources of human exposure to fluoride have drastically increased since community water fluoridation began in the U.S. in the 1940’s. The IAOMT has explained that given the current levels of exposure, policies should reduce and work toward eliminating avoidable sources of fluoride, including water fluoridation, fluoride-containing dental materials, and other fluoridated products, as means to promote dental and overall health. Consumers might wish to limit or avoid fluoride exposures as a means of protecting their health. Exposure to fluoride is [...]

Fluoride Toxicity: Exposure, Effects, and Examples

2022-11-16T19:20:24-05:00

Fluoride is hazardous and can cause toxicity. The sources of human exposure to fluoride have drastically increased since community water fluoridation began in the U.S. in the 1940’s, and this means that the potential for cases of fluoride toxicity is also increasing. In addition to water, sources of fluoride now include food, air, soil, pesticides, fertilizers, dental products used at home and in the dental office (some of which are implanted in the human body), pharmaceutical drugs, cookware, clothing, carpeting, and an array of other consumer items used on a regular basis. Fluoride Supplements are not FDA-Approved for Caries Prevention This video outlines how fluoride supplements can be potentially harmful and are not FDA approved for caries prevention. The IAOMT and FAN caution of harm from fluoride supplements, which are not FDA-Approved for caries prevention. Many dentists prescribe fluoride tablets, drops, lozenges, and rinses, which are often referred to as fluoride supplements or “vitamins.” These products are potentially harmful because they can result in dangerous fluoride exposure levels. They contain 0.25, 0.5, or 1.0 mg fluoride, and they [...]

Fluoride Pollution and Harm to the Environment

2022-11-16T23:40:54-05:00

Fluoride naturally exists in the minerals, as well as in soil, water, and air. However, fluoride pollution in the environment occurs because the chemical is synthesized for intentional use in community water fluoridation, dental products, and other consumer items. Obviously, fluoride pollution can adversely impact wildlife. Water and Soil Pollution from Fluoride Releases into the Environment Significant quantities of fluoride are discharged to waterways by industrial wastewater. Meanwhile, soil pollution from fluoride occurs in areas where industries emit fluoride into the air and from the use of phosphate fertilizers. Animals eating food [...]

The results of the first ever US government funded study of fluoride and IQ have just been published. A team of researchers found a statistically significant association between fluoride exposure in women during pregnancy and a lowering of IQ in their children, reports the Fluoride Action Network. The study was published in Environmental Health Perspectives by scientists from the University of Toronto, University of Michigan, Harvard, McGill, and the national public health agency of Mexico. It was funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, with over $3 million in grants. Click here to read more.
